Wow. I am currently working for a woman and her husband who are in their mid-70's and in the process of turning over their mom-and-pop to new owners so they can retire. The woman, though mentally vital, has considerable pain and moves very slowly, and enough serious problems w/her health that it is not clear how many years (or less) she has. It is quite challenging working around her because though we are (relatively recent) friends, I don't feel that I have the necessary spiritual depth to support her. Neither her nor her husband are Christian or religious at all, so it is that much more daunting.
I don't feel there is much I can do except try to be friendly and helpful. A tough situation.
